Analyses

Since many members are interested in analysis of anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) we post the analytical data of dehydrochlormethyltestosterone ((17β)-4-chloro-17-hydroxy-17-methylandrosta-1,4-dien-3-one) on the most discussion-boards known as Oral Turinabol – Oral T or abbrivated as OT.

You’ll find in this blog-post also the graphics from the different analytical methods of identification (GC, GC/MS, FTIR, HPLC, 1H- and 13C- NMR).

An analysis of a few bottles, each labelled  “Turanabol,” “Chlordehydromethyltestosterone,” and “Golden Triangle Pharmaceuticals” (see Photo 1). Despite identical appearances (same bottle type, labeling, lot number, and number of tablets (100)), some of the bottles contained nondescript orange capsules while other bottles contained nondescript yellow capsules (see Photo 2). Subsequent analyses confirmed that the orange capsules contained dehydrochlormethyltestosterone as the only active ingredient, while the yellow capsules contained primarily dehydrochlormethyltestosterone with minor amounts of stanozolol and methandrostenolone (see structures, below).

Dehydrochlormethyltestosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance in the United States and is also listed in the 2006 Prohibited List/World Anti-Doping Code. It gained notoriety as a result of the East German Olympic doping scandals that were fully exposed after the fall of the Berlin wall (2 ). Data from East German medical personnel involved in the doping indicated that dehydrochlormethyltestosterone produced dramatic increases in speed and strength, but with detrimental side effects such as deepening of the voice, increased acne, and body hair growth. Other, long term side-effects ranged from liver damage to severe gynaecological disorders (2). This steroid is no longer legitimately produced, and appears to be available only as an illicitly-prepared product on the black market.

Almost every supplement or pro-hormone that really worked was banned, what we see now, more and more, is that FDA finds spiked supplements.

The  war on drugs is about to include supplements and is just going to bring down more FDA control of supplements, Matt Cahill a designer supplements manufacturer sold DMAA – SuperDrol and DNP. Now it seems Craze was spiked also.

Bodybuilders use PWO’s (pre work outs), mostly things like cialis to get a better pump. From the day I started to work with weights, I know that a few cups of strong black coffee would help during my work-out, many even use a lotta sugar in it but I don’t like sugar at all.

If you google on spiked supplements you realize it is a known problem, not only in bodybuilding supplements and pwo’s but also in dietary supplements  -vitamins- sexual-enhancement supplements and especially in weight loss supplements. Part of the appeal of supplements is their apparent naturalness, so they often have a veneer of being safer than prescription drugs.

Some analyses on black market steroids in diverse countries

Brazilian steroids market flooded with fakes and copies

The quality of steroids on the black market is abominable. Laboratories worldwide report that almost half of all steroids are fakes. And the situation is no different in Brazil, according to a report by the National Institute of Criminalistics van het Brazilian Federal Police Department. About forty percent of the steroids on the Brazilian black market are of dubious quality, and the percentage is on the rise. The Brazilians will soon publish the results of a study in Forensic Science international for which they analysed 2818 preparations that had been confiscated by the police during the period 2006-2011. In total the Brazilian Federal Police Department confiscated 3676 substances, but only had some of these analysed. About thirty percent came from Paraguay and fourteen percent from Brazil.

Sixteen percent of the confiscated goods were deemed to be fake from the packaging and so were not analysed. The Hemogenin produced by Sarsa was one of these. It's supposed to contain oxymetholone, but the Brazilians discovered that there's no factory called Sarsa registered anywhere. Below left you can see the real Hemogenin – made by Aventis – and below right Sarsa Hemogenin.

Milk Thistle

Most bodybuilders use Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum) to protect their liver when they are using oral steroids. But this herbal medicine has much more benificial properties.

The brains of a mouse type that develops Alzheimer's at a young age keep functioning well for longer if the animals are given extracts of milk thistle [Silybum marianum] mixed with their food, researchers at the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology discovered.

Supplementation with Silybum marianum – the plant is also known as milk thistle – induces liver cells to synthesise more glutathione, a detoxifier which improves the functioning of the liver. Animal studies have shown that Silybum marianum protects the liver against the effects of oral anabolic steroids. [Med Pregl. 2003;56 Suppl 1:79-83.]

It is also possible that the plant has a similar protective effect on the prostate. [Integr Cancer Ther. 2007 Jun; 6(2): 130-45.] Prostate cancer may occur as a result of the decrease in production of detoxifying enzymes that occurs with aging. [Exp Gerontol. 2012 Mar; 47(3): 223-8.] There are also indications that Silybum marianum blocks the growth-enhancing effects of androgens on prostate cancer cells. [Carcinogenesis. 2001 Sep;22(9):1399-403.]

When we analysed samples from Underground Laboratories, a member of our forum asked me if I wanted to do a  "special" on American samples. The market in the US is special from most parts of the world, the generic domestic American market that is. Because the Law Enforcement is so unbelievable strict on PED's (performence enhancing drugs) in street slang steroids, roids or anabolics the brands and sellers fluctuate more often than in other parts of the world.

This should be especially interesting for some US bodybuilders that know one or more of the analysed labs.

Since lots of analyses disappaered from the net since Body of Science forum is closed, some previous Mods of this notorious forum asked me to make them available again I have an enormous amount of analyses that I still have to open-scan and tag, but slowly I'll post then here. Four to start with!!

Basics of QC of oil-based parenterals.

Well, everybody knows that steroid based injections are faked. We will pass by the meter why it happens and will discuss how it happens and what could we do to avoid fakes. First of I would like to show you how the oil-based parentals are normally made. After that I’ll try to discover basics of quality testing and some advanced things in brief.

In the previous issue we published an other analysis of a IGF-1 LR3 sample we bought in the Netherlands and that originated from China.

It turned out it was a very dangerous item that contained ratinsulin instead of IGF-1 LR3!!

When we started to analyse a new sample we bought in China, we found  it was IGF-1 this time.

GHRH is a growth hormone releasing factor peptide that is comprised of either 44 or 40 amino acids and is abbreviated as GRF(1-29). The biologically active portion resides in the first 29 amino acids so the synthetic forms of GHRH are made up of just these 29 amino acids.

CJC-1295 has an added amino acid lysine which links to a drug affinity complex (DAC). CJC 1295 without DAC is modified GHRH or GRF(1-29).

Modified GRF(1-29) is a short-estered GHRH, while CJC-1295 is a long-estered GHRH. Effectively, the long-estered GHRH can be run once a week if you can find the real deal.
Since maufacturing CJC 1295 is a complex and costly process, most all CJC 1295 being currently sold is really GRF(1-29). This analysis confirmed this assumption!!

Its very profitable to buy GRF as middleman and sell them as CJC 1295-DAC

There where many discussions about on many fora about counterfeited Nordiropin Simplexx and members conpared pictures and details from their products. One of our members was convinced he had bought some counterfeits. I asked our peptide lab to run some analyses. It turned out it was  a real item.

One of our members used this petide to get a nice tan. It’s a MT2 with a nice box with hologram. The top (with brand name), label and box are made in the same colour with great precision and it looks like a pharmaceutical item. The brandname and info are not traceble on the internet, thus it concerns a underground made product, most probably originating from China or India. Our member was very curious to its quality. That’s why I decided to run an analysis.

The brandname is Scenic batchnumber: 000001380 expiring: 01 december 2010

As you can easily see, the main compound has a MW  (Molecular Weight) of 1024.5 Da (Dalton) which is in accordance with the cyclic peptide.

However, there are a high number of minor contaminations in the sample which you see better in the zoom pictures.
